Today, we are going to talk about how soon you should plan your wedding. Everyone has different lengths of engagement periods they’d like to have, and today I’m going to break it down so you can see all the time it takes to create your perfect wedding day.

The ideal time to start planning a wedding can vary depending on several factors such as the size and complexity of the event, availability of venues and vendors, and personal preferences. However, it is typical to start planning at least 12 to 18 months before the wedding date. This timeline allows couples to secure popular venues, preferred vendors, and services, as well as to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances or delays that may arise during the planning process. However, smaller and less elaborate weddings may require less time to plan, while larger or destination weddings may necessitate a longer planning period. Ultimately, it’s best to start planning as soon as possible to ensure a smooth and stress-free wedding experience.

At a minimum, I recommend you start planning your wedding at least 4 months in advance. This is the minimum quickest time period I’d recommend, and with that, you’d want to move quickly! I suggest this as a minimum because it is standard to send out wedding invitations at least 3 months in advance. So that gives you the first month to secure your venue, date, dress, and wedding invitations. When you are buying your wedding dress, be sure that it will arrive in time for any necessary alterations.
